We test for breathability by pumping hot steam into gloves and weighing them before and after the test to compare the weight of water they hold. We test for water repellency by soaking fabric with simulated rain fall and identifying any “wet out” areas that aren’t repellent. And then we put our technologies on real people to make sure that GORE-TEX® gear performs as well in the real world as it does in our labs.
