The name Arc’teryx comes from the legendary dinosaur Archaeopteryx Lithographica, regarded as the earliest known bird. The evolutionary process that spawned the feather and the magnificence of flight is the same evolutionary genius that Arc’teryx strives to harness and apply to their mountain apparel. Through a singular focus on redefining the status quo, they created groundbreaking new construction technology and designs that resulted in some of the best women’s jackets, pants and climbing gear available today. We’ve partnered with Arc’teryx to help them continue to challenge outerwear standards and build better gear.

The GORE-TEX® brand is similarly obsessed with continually improving upon our technology, developing new advancements and providing better performance for outdoor enthusiasts. Take, for example, the GORE-TEX® Paclite® Shell, used in some women’s Arc’teryx jackets. To solve the problem of weight and bulk, we discovered how to do away with a separate lining by covering the GORE-TEX® membrane with a special oleophobic (oil-hating substance). The resulting shell is our lightest and most packable, perfect for keeping pack weight and volume to a minimum.

While creating the GORE-TEX® Pro Shell line, also available in some women’s Arc’teryx jackets, we innovated a special patent pending internal backer fabric to improve internal abrasion and snag resistance, enhance breathability and decrease garment weight. As with Arc’teryx, our innovations are many, and our desire to always raise the bar is constant.
