GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run Challenges OR Attendees to "Experience More"
(San Francisco, CA - July 27, 2007) There are only a tiny number of Americans who have the endurance, ability, and iron tendons it takes to compete in this summer’s inaugural GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run.
And most of them will be attending the Outdoor Retailer Summer Show.
In celebration of this rich demographic environment, W. L. Gore & Associates is proud to not only announce its sponsorship of the event, but to offer one lucky show participant the opportunity to “Experience More” with a Taste of the TransRockies.
Chosen at random, the winner will guest-star at the event, staying two nights at the TransRockies tent village and racing on the course for one full stage of the six-stage race. The winner will also receive breakfasts and dinners at the tent village as well as a technology-rich bundle of schwag from key sponsors such as Gore and adidas, and have an opportunity to experience the magnificence of the Rockies in September.
The GORE-TEX TransRockies Run will cover more than 125 miles of the Colorado backcountry between Sept. 16 and Sept. 21, 2007. The event will take competitors through both the White River and San Isabel National Forests. The course includes a mix of singletrack and forest roads reaching altitudes of 12,000 feet, and the Colorado peaks will provide some of the most stunning scenery imaginable, with blazing golden aspen and vistas of pure wilderness
This terrain and the arduous nature of the course made for an inspired partnership: in addition to the GORE TEX® brand serving as title sponsor, adidas of America has also signed on as a sponsor of the event. The two companies work together frequently, as evidenced by the shoe adidas will showcase at the TransRockies Run – the JS 1 XCR, an outdoor racing shoe. The shoe features a breathable GORE TEX® XCR lining for waterproof protection as well as an anti-microbial moisture-wicking sock liner. The JS 1 XCR also features a midsole constructed of LightStrike EVA for a low-to- the-ground profile and a high-traction rubber outsole for exceptional grip.

Up to 150 teams of two (300 athletes) from all over the world are expected to participate, unwinding after each day with gourmet meals, video highlights and hot showers.
While most participants may not have their eye on a win, some certainly will. A combined prize purse of $20,000 will go to top teams in four categories: Men, Women, Mixed, and Men 80+.
