"I purchased a pair of boots with a waterproof lining 'similar to GORE-TEX® brand' on my first extended trip — 10 days in the Grand Canyon. My feet got soaked. Fortunately, my outfitter guaranteed the boots, even after this punishment. I swapped them for another pair of the same brand and once again, I got soaked.

When I took these back, a different salesman looked at me and said, "If you want GORE-TEX®, then get GORE-TEX®." I did and haven't had any problems since. I've made multiple trips back into the canyon and also here in North Carolina. On each one I came back with dry feet."
