Dear Winter, I thought long and hard about whether I should speak to you. Is everything all right? I totally understand if you’re annoyed about global warming and all that, but try to see things from my side. In a process so sophisticated and intelligent, I was created in the Gore Labs to warm the hands of the world. My composition of lining, membrane and outer material is constructed for the ultimate isolation. I want your hardest, most extreme weather conditions, you hear? I’m the real deal! I don’t want to come across as arrogant but I’m really the ideal companion for anything from ski tours to skiing and snowboarding. I’m even great for a little motorcycle trip. But there’s something that bothers me, Winter, and that’s when you wait until the middle of January to make an appearance as if that’s standard. Okay, fashionably late you say, but to slink away again after just a few glorious snow days? What is the world coming to? What exactly were you thinking? Durably waterproof, windproof, breathable and – if I may say so – not hard on the eyes either. I come in so many different styles that I can make any mountain shine. Whether Burton, Dakine, Reusch, Ziener, Roeckl, Held, The North Face or Salomon (just to name a few), my creators have really given it their all. Gone are the times of gray to black tones dominating the accessories shelves at the local outdoor store. They imitate you and manage somehow to do so to cheering crowds. So if I were you, I’d be furious. I would start snowing like nobody’s business. I would summon every last cloud to show these snow canons just who they’re messing with. We’re on your side, Winter. We support you.
