How would you describe yourself in 1 sentence max?

Founder of Holsales & .blank, designer, stylist and vintage clothing curator/archivist from South East London.

Tell us a bit about your city’s climate. What are your three favorite spots - in the summer, in the winter (outside)? What is your favorite method of transportation and why? How do you prep for bad weather if you spend time outside?

I’m from London so as you guessed - it’s raining all the time! Summer - walking my dog at Joyden’s Wood, Epping Forest is a vibe too Winter - Greenwich I enjoy walking through Soho and Shoreditch from time to time as well - I have a lot of friends I bump into there Transport - Car or bike - a time to take in your surroundings Prep for bad weather - always take a GORE-TEX shell with me and appropriate footwear I don’t mind getting messed up - I enjoy wearing bright colours but I often tone my outfits down during winter to more muted tones

What are you wearing today? Why are you wearing it, and did you have a particular weather scenario in mind when choosing this piece? What do you love most about your GORE-TEX product?

I’m wearing a GORE-TEX test team piece from the early 2000’s which incorporates the use of ‘air vantage’ a system that uses your breathe as a natural insulator. The weather in London is always unpredictable so in this I’m safe in the rain and if it gets cold I can warm myself up too! Love most - design and versatility, there’s zips for everything you’d ever need and the construction/colour palette is real nice.

Where and when did you get this... Do you have any special memories connected to this item? If you could go anywhere, where would you like to take this piece?

I’ve had this piece for a couple years now - it came from an official test team member who endured a variety of different activities in it to ensure the end product was the best it could be. It’d be pretty mad to take this piece back to where it was originally tested by the GORE-TEX team.

Why do you think functional clothing has gotten more popular in recent years?

There’s a story behind every piece, and collectors/consumers have grown to enjoy learning about the design process just as much as owning/wearing the products. It’s exciting and builds community.

How do you define the term “comfort” in clothing, in particular technical apparel?

Comfort to me is not feeling restricted when performing any activity. For example the use of articulated panels allows you to wear closer fitting pieces with pretty free movement.

What are you looking for in the next six months and what challenges do you see that you’re excited about?

It’s weird to say but when looking for items I don’t really have a specific idea what I’m going to find so I think that’s what gives me the drive - to this day I’m still discovering pieces I’ve never seen before I’m also hyped for you to see what’s coming from my brand .blank!
