    For 50 years, our products have been known for high performance and long-lasting protection. To mark the anniversary of our consumer product debut, we’ve opened the extensive GORE-TEX® Product archive for the first time. We’ve curated the archive’s iconic pieces, early prototypes, and rare print memorabilia into a comprehensive timeline to capture some of the groundbreaking innovations, influential moments, and collaborations that have shaped the last five decades.

    Because understanding where we’ve been helps guide where we’re going. Over 50 years, “Going Further, Together” has meant pushing innovation to empower people to be protected in the outdoors for years to come. It means striving to shape the future of performance with a focus on material innovation, and building long-lasting partnerships that drive meaningful progress.

    1976-1985

    Going where no one thought possible

    Staying dry outdoors used to feel a little different. While treated natural materials mostly managed to keep water out, the reality was that if you wanted to stay dry, you’d be drenched in sweat too. In 1976, that changes. We introduce something entirely new: waterproof protection that could breathe. Suddenly, waterproof outdoor gear can be lightweight and comfortable. Over the next decade, we open a new chapter for weather protection. But beyond that, we empower a generation of service people, outdoor professionals and everyday people to go further than ever thought possible. Because with the right protective gear, human ambition knows no bounds.

    The world meets GORE-TEX® Products 

    For the first time, staying dry no longer means getting sweaty. In his work to promote the brand new GORE-TEX® Fabric, Gore Associate Joe Tanner met with Bill Nicolai and Bill Edwards of independent Seattle company, Early Winters. During his visit, they witnessed  the power of GORE-TEX® Products with a simple but effective test. They covered a cup of hot coffee with a patch of the material: the steam escaped, but the water didn’t.

    The impromptu test kit worked. In 1976, Early Winters launches the first consumer product made with GORE-TEX® Fabric, the Light Dimension™ tent. The world’s first GORE-TEX® Jackets follow closely behind. Rain shells, anoraks, gaiters and pants appear with a material unlike anything before.

    Our longest-standing outdoor partnership 

    It all begins with an unexpected test. Could GORE-TEX® Products keep Marmot founders warm and dry overnight in a sub-zero commercial meat locker? We pass with flying colors. Marmot becomes the first brand to offer insulated garments with GORE-TEX® Products – marking the start of a partnership that continues today.

    GORE-TEX® Products arrive in Europe

    Norwegian outdoor brand Norrøna builds the first GORE-TEX® Jacket prototype in Europe. Tested in the Alps, Pyrenees and Scottish Highlands, the technology quickly proves its durable waterproof protection in harsh conditions.

    An influx of brand partnerships

    Taking a chance on our new material, small businesses like Early Winters, Banana Equipment, Sierra West, and Synergy Works were crucial in introducing our latest innovation to the world. Within a year, we began to develop strong partnerships with a number of larger outdoor brands, including REI, Woolrich, The North Face, and Kelty.

    The summit that changes everything

    Reinhold Messner and Peter Habeler summit Everest without oxygen, a feat previously thought to be impossible. And GORE-TEX® Products – a custom-made tent and the Millet jacket – accompany them. Their achievement shows the world what breathable protection can enable in some of the most unforgiving environments on Earth.

    Pictured here is another custom Millet suit used by the late rock climber Patrick Edlinger, who, in 1987, attempted to become the fastest person to climb the three main north faces in the Alps: the Grandes Jorasses, Eiger, and Matterhorn.

    Military testing

    A U.S. Marine Corps member tests a consumer Marmot All-Weather Parka in demanding conditions at a local training center. This jacket represents the first test of GORE-TEX® Products by military personnel. The design of the jacket was used as the basis for creating the first Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) Parka in 1985.

    Weathering life at sea

    Sailing and maritime gear was one of the early applications of GORE-TEX® Brand Innovation, and a testament to the versatility of our technology outside of backpacking. Pictured is sea gear by International Marine Wear, using technology specifically engineered for the harsh, changing conditions of life at sea.

    Sealed at the Seams

    Even the best waterproof fabrics once had an Achilles’ heel: seams. Before 1979, you would have to seal the seams of your waterproof yourself, using products like our Seam Stuff. Then, we introduce GORE-SEAM® Tape and our seam-sealing machine: and the problem belongs to the past.

    Bringing breathability to firefighting

    We commercially introduce a breathable moisture barrier for structural firefighting turnout gear, a transformative improvement that reduces the damaging effects of heat stress and elevates comfort and mobility for firefighters. In 1981, Globe becomes the first customer in the U.S. to adopt GORE-TEX® Moisture Barrier fabric.

    The first GORE-TEX® Brand shoe

    Brooks launches the first running shoe using GORE-TEX® Product Technology. Their Hugger GTX running shoes make it possible for runners to have comfortable, dry feet in wet conditions for the first time. It marks the beginning of an entirely new category for the GORE-TEX® Brand.

    Boots transform the trail

    Footwear brands begin integrating GORE-TEX® Membranes into hiking boots. Danner introduces the Mountain Light hiking boot, and Nike introduces one of its first hiking-style shoes featuring GORE-TEX® Product technology – our first collaborations with the brand. 

     

    The following year, Alfons Meindl and Thorger Hübner develop the first lightweight, waterproof-breathable Meindl boot using a GORE-TEX® Products – the Meindl Trailer.

    Fashion footwear hits the streets

    Women’s fashion footwear brand Golo introduces the first lifestyle product to use GORE-TEX® Products: high heeled boots.

    Revelation at your fingertips

    The world meets the first GORE-TEX® Gloves, created in collaboration with partners including Gates, Grandoe, Saranac and Gordini. Before this, you had to choose between waterproof gloves that trapped sweat and left hands cold, or more comfortable options that soaked through in wet conditions. With GORE-TEX® Gloves, that tradeoff disappeared, keeping hands both warm and dry.

    Protection in hazardous conditions

    We develop GORE-TEX® Barrier for chemical splash suits. The innovation protects against liquid chemicals and particulates such as dust, soot, and smoke, evolving the safety and comfort of working conditions for professionals operating in industrial settings.

    1983

    Military-backed innovation

    The U.S. government funds a 3-year development program code-named ECWCS (Extended Cold-Weather Clothing System), and three service branches field test GORE-TEX® Products. Products achieve operational capability at -40F degrees in field tests, and there wasn’t a single cold weather casualty in an invasion exercise in Norway – a first for the U.S. Marine Corps. 

    In 1985, the first ECWCS Parka is built together with a military garment contractor, Tennessee Apparel.

    Built for the hunt

    By the early 1980s, we partner with leading hunting and fishing brands including 10x, Browning, Orvis, and Cabelas to create apparel, footwear, and accessories that kept you comfortable during long days out in the elements.

    1983

    adidas joins the movement

    adidas drops the New York running shoe, the brand’s first waterproof-breathable running shoes using GORE-TEX® Product technology. The move opens the door to decades of collaboration.

    1985

    Cycling’s all-weather jacket

    Until now, garments wouldn't allow riders to cycle comfortably in different weather conditions. So, we create the GIRO jacket. Designed specifically for cyclists, it’s the first cycling shell that keeps riders dry while allowing sweat to escape.

    The North Face® drops an icon

    Originally developed as part of The North Face’s Expedition system, the Mountain Jacket represents a meaningful step forward in performance outerwear. Before its debut, jackets designed for extreme climates were typically bulky, heavy, and lacked the necessary durability and flexibility required for harsh environments. With GORE-TEX® Brand protection, comfort and freedom of movement, the Mountain Jacket starts a new chapter for mountaineering gear.

    Setting the Groundwork for Future Standards

    The groundwork program for our waterproof promise launches: RAINGEAR WITHOUT COMPROMISE. We work with manufacturers to submit their prototypes and put them under rigorous new test standards and shower testing in our labs and storm chamber.

    This is the foundation for what will soon become the renowned GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY consumer garment promise.

    Protection You Can Rely On

    “Can I trust this to protect me when it matters most?” In this decade, that question came to define what performance really means. We don’t just develop new products, we introduce rigorous testing and a performance promise designed to build confidence over time.

    From an unprecedented expedition to the coldest edge of the planet to one of the defining waterproof shells of the decade, GORE-TEX® Products are trusted for critical protection in the military, emergency services, extreme exploration, and even through city streets.

    1987

    Testing at new extremes

    We develop the first Rain Room, a breakthrough that takes our testing standards to a new level of reliability. Known for its extreme weather simulations and notoriously strict pass criteria, the Rain Room can drench its subject with up to 22 inches of water per hour. Today, every garment designed with the GORE-TEX® Membrane is backed by prototype testing in one of these rooms. The Rain Room becomes a defining point of GORE-TEX® Brand performance and a foundation of our GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY consumer promise.

    1988

    Protective performance in harsh environments

    The Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) becomes the U.S. military’s uniform of choice. Later this year, a global team of our sales associates head north of the arctic circle and spend three days and nights marching and sleeping outside, putting the products to the test themselves.

    Indoor comfort for outerwear 

    We introduce early GORE XCR Sweater Liner Technology for sweaters. The innovation allows clothes you’d usually wear indoors to function outdoors, expanding protection gear into everyday layering. It becomes an early precursor to what would later evolve into WINDSTOPPER® by GORE-TEX LABS® Product technology.

    A lasting guarantee

    We introduce the groundbreaking GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY promise, committing to customers that our products will do what they say they do. It’s a first for the outdoor industry and reflects our commitment to reliable performance.

    GORE-TEX® Garments must pass strict performance tests to earn the GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY black diamond. If a product falls short, or a customer isn’t satisfied, we’ll assess the product and repair or replace it, or refund the original cost. To support our standard, we install eight Rain Rooms in multiple locations worldwide, from Elkton, Maryland to Livingston, Scotland, to test products in controlled conditions.

     

     


     

    1990

    Wind protection, redefined 

    We introduce WINDSTOPPER® Product Technology, now WINDSTOPPER® by GORE-TEX LABS®, delivering highly breathable protection against chilling winds. The innovation expands performance apparel beyond waterproofing, opening the door to lightweight shells and next-to-skin protection designed for active movement in windy and drier conditions.

    1990
    Proven in Antarctic extremes

    A team of adventurers from six countries set out on the intrepid 1990 International Trans-Antarctic Expedition – and we sponsor them. Venturing across Antarctica, the researchers and adventurers study the effects of climate change and raise awareness for an international protective treaty. Our GORE-TEX® Fabric is used in the expedition team’s custom-designed suits, and we design 42 custom jackets and booties for the sled dogs that power the mission.  

    One adventurer is separated from the group in a sudden storm, spending 14 hours in 70mph winds and at -25F degrees. He later credits the highly protective GORE-TEX® Gear he was wearing with saving his life. The expedition puts our newly introduced GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY promise into action – and into the global spotlight.

    Explorations into recycling programs

    We collaborate with several European brands to create an early initiative designed to support post-consumer recycling of functional outerwear as part of the GORE® BALANCE PROJECT™. The program was among the first initiatives of its kind in the apparel industry and received the 1995 European Outdoor Award for Innovation.

    1993

    Comfortable golf wear becomes par for the course

    By the early 1990s, golf footwear and apparel equipped our product technology expands thanks to a range of partnerships with brands including Etonic, Reebok, Forresters, and Zero Restrictions. Our WINDSTOPPER® Products in particular offer comfortable, windproof, and protection that is stylish, functional, and suitable for all weather conditions. 

    1994

    The Mountain Light Jacket Arrives

    The North Face Mountain Light Jacket becomes one of the best-selling GORE-TEX® Jackets of the decade, helping establish GORE-TEX® Products not just in extreme environments, but also in everyday outdoor culture. The jacket goes on to be released as the 1994 Retro Mountain Light GTX Jacket in 2019.

    1996 - 2005

    Performance, Wherever You Go

    GORE-TEX® Products are no longer just used in alpine extremes. They’re worn wherever life happens. The same science trusted in gear engineered for demanding alpine environments is now part of everyday wear around the world. Whether summiting mountains, responding to emergencies, or commuting through the seasons, people rely on our products for consistent performance – and in this decade, we prove they can.

    Ready or Not, Here We Come

    By the mid-1990s, GORE-TEX® Products are ingrained in popular culture. Referenced in iconic moments – from sitcoms like Seinfeld to the lyrics of artists such as The Fugees – the brand becomes part of the broader cultural conversation beyond the mountains.

    1997
    Defense boots enter the field

    The first military GORE-TEX® Boot is used by service members deployed in Bosnia, earning the nickname “The Bosnia Boot.” Waterproof-breathable protection becomes an increasingly important consideration for soldiers operating in complex terrain.

    1998

    Our Arc’teryx partnership begins

    We partner with outdoor equipment brand, Arc’teryx to refine and advance the GORE-TEX® Materials for its latest collection. Technical shells, including the Theta LT and Alpha SV, become the first Arc’teryx apparel built with GORE-TEX® Fabric. Engineered for extreme alpine conditions, the gear paves the way for a new category. More than two decades later, the Alpha SV is one of the most respected shells in mountaineering – and our partnership with Arc’teryx remains strong.

    1999

    Lightweight, packable protection arrives

    Our GORE-TEX® PACLITE® Product technology launches: lightweight, packable, and waterproof protection for a wide range of activities. One of the first PACLITE® Jackets goes to our Berghaus account manager, who puts it through more than 700 hours and 1,400 miles of use across backpacking, cycling, and kayaking, demonstrating consistent durable, waterproof, breathable, and now lightweight performance.

     

    1999

    Protection wherever the adventure leads

    In 1999, we move decisively into new terrain. From dense woodland to open ocean and fast-moving roads, we expand our technology into highly specialized environments. We introduce SUPPRESCENT™ technology for hunters, which contains activated carbon that adsorbs human scent chemicals. We reinforce motorcycle apparel with GORE-TEX® ARMACOR™ Fabric for high-speed abrasion resistance. And we develop GORE-TEX® Coastal Outerwear to meet the relentless demands of wind-exposed maritime conditions.

    1999

    Grip when it matters most

    We introduce CROSSTECH™ DIRECT GRIP™ technology inserts for fire service gloves. By combining two layers of a standard firefighters’ glove – the moisture barrier and thermal liner – into a single, flexible, streamlined insert, we improve firefighters’ dexterity. and increase control.

    Elevating protection for first responders

    We introduce GORE-TEX® AIRLOCK Fabric to the firefighting market, a technology that focuses on breathability and reduced weight of the thermal insulation layer in garments. In the same year, CROSSTECH® Fabrics launch globally for firefighting and rescue uses, supplementing waterproof breathability with advanced protection against exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

    2000

    GORE-TEX® Brand x ACRONYM®

    Berlin-based label ACRONYM® releases one of its earliest GORE-TEX® Brand collaborations. The Evolution Jacket was a new take on an ice-climbing jacket that Tilak had previously brought to market in the 1990s. Tilak and ACRONYM® continued to refine the Tilak Evolution jacket across subsequent iterations over the years.

    2000

    Snowboarding gets serious protection

    Burton launches the [ak] collection – high-performance snowboard gear built with GORE-TEX® Fabrics. Designed for riders pushing deeper into the backcountry, the collection becomes widely recognized for its technical performance in snowsports apparel.

    Luxury fashion meets performance

    Luxury fashion begins experimenting with GORE-TEX® Product technology. Designers incorporate performance fabrics into lifestyle wear, such as the Airvantage GORE-TEX® PACLITE® Jacket by Hugo Boss. Prada introduces outwear using our PACLITE® Product technology in 2012.

    2004

    The world meets Soft Shell

    The Mountain Hardwear Alchemy Jacket is an early WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell. WINDSTOPPER® Soft Shell combines the wind-repellent properties of an outer shell with the comfort of a mid-layer, offering new levels of comfort and durability. Our relationship with Mountain Hardwear is now 30 years strong – and counting.

    2004

    Protection from Critical Threats

    Gore launches a new family of chemical protective fabrics: GORE® CHEMPAK® Products. Designed with police and first responders in mind, these fabrics help keep wearers comfortable while delivering reliable protection in hazardous environments. The portfolio includes GORE® CHEMPAK® Sorptive Fabric, GORE® CHEMPAK® Ultra Barrier Fabric and GORE® CHEMPAK® Selectively Permeable Fabric.

    Reaching the runway

    Designer Junya Watanabe of Comme des Garçons brings GORE-TEX® Brand to Paris Fashion Week. The moment signals a major shift: the gear once built for expeditions now inspire high-fashion design.

    Engineered for What's Next

    In 2012, the late Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner accomplishes something unimaginable: a stratospheric jump from 24 miles above Earth. In a first for humankind, he breaks the speed of sound and lands safely back in the New Mexico desert wearing a custom suit made with GORE-TEX® Fabric. Whether designed for extreme endeavors, demanding professional use, or everyday movement through city streets, we engineer our performance gear to be everything Baumgartner needs in this moment: lightweight, breathable, protective, and reliable. Because when we engineer our protection to move, human potential expands with it.

    Built for the extreme

    The world meets our most rugged, waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric to date: the GORE-TEX® Pro Shell (later called GORE-TEX® Pro Products). Engineered for demanding environments, these products reflect our ongoing focus on performance where conditions push equipment to its limits.

    Warmth without bulk

    We launch WINDSTOPPER® Insulated Garments to provide warmth and protection from the wind in cold, dry and exposed conditions. Lightweight and versatile, the product technology is designed to support comfort and freedom of movement when it matters most.

    2008

    A first in hunting camouflage

    In 2008, SITKA® Brand becomes our wholesale partner. Following extensive research with top animal vision and military camouflage scientists, together we develop the world’s first scientifically developed hunting concealment technology. GORE® OPTIFADE® Concealment doesn’t mimic nature like traditional patterns. Instead, it’s inspired by how prey animals see the world. The technology consists of digital patterns engineered to make it difficult for prey to detect and recognize humans. 

    2008
    Early streetwear crossover

    10 years before our first collaboration with Supreme, we first work with the iconic skate brand through a collaboration with Japanese brand Visvim. Visvim was one of the earliest Japanese luxury brands, and highly influential in lifestyle fashion.

    Our products also appear in a growing wave of urban lifestyle garments. Nike ACG shells, Arc’teryx jackets like the Beta AR, and adidas Terrex footwear bring waterproof-breathable performance into city streets, commutes, and daily life. 

    2010

    Olympic performance protection

    In a unique partnership, we work with Burton to outfit the U.S. Olympic snowboard team’s uniform as the team's official fabric. Our design teams worked side by side in developing the outfit, which takes on a vintage look. The 2010 U.S. Olympic Snowboard team won two gold medals, a silver, and two bronze medals.

    Flame-retardant technology advances

    Our GORE-TEX® PYRAD® Product Technology provides flame-retardant protection for military personnel and oil, gas, and utility workers operating in conditions where there is a sudden risk of exposure to heat and flame.

    ASICS footwear, waterproofed

    The ASICS GT-2000 series brings our technology to one of the world's most popular road running brands with the GT-2150 GTX. In 2014, ASICS launch the GEL-Lyte V GTX, one of the first sports‑style, everyday sneakers to feature our product technology. It’s an important shift, showing a broader appeal for performance features in daily wear.

    Building product lifecycle transparency 

    We’ve been conducting garment life-cycle assessments since 1992. But in 2013, we begin to publicly release the results. It’s a key driver in our goal to build both durable products and greater transparency.

    Technical system protection

    In the U.S. and Europe, we launch the GORE® PARALLON™ System, now the GORE-TEX® CROSSTECH® PARALLON® Liner System, providing excellent breathability, while also preventing serious drops in thermal protection that can occur as firefighter gear gets wet, particularly from sweat.

    Performance with purpose

    Protective gear should advance alongside the planet. So, in this decade, we evolve our approach to performance. Through next-generation GORE-TEX® Products featuring the ePE membrane, our transition to renewable electricity, and innovative specialized fabric solutions that reduce impact in selected areas, we continue to show how durability, protection, and improvements in selected materials and processes can coexist.

    Converse meets the GORE-TEX® Brand

    The Chuck Taylor 70 GTX launches, which debuts the durably waterproof version of one of the most iconic sneakers in history.

    Shoes that stay light

    GORE-TEX® Invisible Fit Product technology for footwear bonds the waterproof membrane directly to the upper. The result? Lighter shoes, a more precise fit, and faster dry time. The innovation is quickly adopted for running, trail, and lifestyle footwear.

    Our skate culture debut

    We partner with renowned skate brand Palace to create a custom Green Jacket for their New York City store opening. The exclusive collection was created with ten different GORE-TEX® Fabrics, and limited to just ten jackets per pattern.

    2018

    Protecting our first responders

    The GORE-TEX® Moisture Barrier with GORE® CROSSTECH® Product Technology launches, combining the durable, waterproof properties of the moisture barrier with powerful protection against blood-borne pathogens and common chemicals like battery acid and hydraulic fluid. The technology provides comfort and protection for emergency professionals including structural firefighters, search and rescue teams, and emergency medical personnel.

    The 6.4 Second Sellout

    Our first Supreme x GORE-TEX® Brand collaboration drops. And it’s been long anticipated; the line sells out in just 6.4 seconds. The release highlights how performance technology is no longer reserved for the outdoors, but is becoming part of contemporary streetwear culture.

    Progress in performance materials

    We introduce a PFAS-free* durable water repellent (DWR) treatment, reflecting our continued efforts to evolve materials and processes while supporting strong performance with a reduced chemical footprint.

    GORE-TEX® Brand takes on high fashion

    We appear on the runway at Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE™ FW19 show at Paris Fashion Week, a moment that reflects a growing intersection between performance materials and fashion rooted in street culture and self-expression.

    A footwear icon goes waterproof

    Nike releases a GORE-TEX® Brand version of the legendary Air Force 1, bringing waterproof protection to one of the brand’s most recognizable collections.

    Celebrating timeless functionality

    We create the “Selected Memories of Functionality” series to showcase cultural pioneers’ experiences and memories through a selection of 12 GORE-TEX® Products. For the second series, we work with legendary graffiti artist, Futura, who played a pivotal part in transforming graffiti into a celebrated art form.

    Luxury craftsmanship

    In an unexpected and first-of-its-kind collaboration, Zegna – the Italian suits and leather shoe brand – collaborated with established mountaineering brand, La Sportiva and the GORE-TEX® Brand to create high-end fashion statements with outdoor-ready materials.

    Durable safety boots, made lighter

    We launch lightweight GORE-TEX® EXTRAGUARD Upper Technology for safety footwear in Europe. The durable, waterproof upper material combines the advantages of leather with those of textile upper materials. When dry, the upper material construction is 40% lighter than leather*. It also stays light when wet and is quick to dry.

    Multi-threat protection

    We introduce GORE-TEX® CROSSTECH® PYRAD® Stretch Fabric, combining flame retardant protection, chemical resistance, blood borne and viral pathogen protection, and stretch comfort for technical rescue and emergency medical teams.

    A new era begins

    More than a decade in the making, we introduce the innovative GORE‑TEX® ePE membrane. It’s light and thin, yet strong, and it's PFAS-free* with a reduced carbon footprint**. To create the next generation of GORE-TEX® Products, we combine the membrane with carefully selected textiles including recycled, solution or undyed textiles***. 

    The ePE membrane is a key milestone in our performance journey, providing high-performing, durable products that are engineered for long product life.

    GORE-TEX® Products with Recycled BIONIC® Textile

    We collaborate with materials innovation company, Bionic and coastal communities in Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula to support community efforts to reduce plastic waste in our oceans and waterways. The project resulted in the creation of new BIONIC® textile made from a 50-50 mixture of plastic waste collected from Bionic’s operations in Costa Rica and plastic waste collected elsewhere. This recycled polyester textile is laminated to the GORE-TEX® Brand’s next-generation ePE membrane. 

    In 2023, we introduce the first jackets using BIONIC® recycled textiles, advocating for circular material use while maintaining our rigorous durability and protection standards.

    Gore Fabrics' Transition to Renewable Electricity

    The majority of our operational carbon emissions stem from the energy required to power our manufacturing facilities. In July 2024, we transitioned all Gore Fabrics manufacturing facilities in Elkton, Maryland, US; Putzbrunn, Germany; and Shenzhen, China to 100% renewable electricity. The move will help us reduce our carbon footprint by nearly 33,000 metric tons annually – the equivalent of nearly 7,600 cars driven for a year, according to US EPA greenhouse gas equivalencies.

    The Aimé Leon Dore GORE-TEX® Coast Guard Jacket releases in February 2025, blending vintage U.S. Navy deck jacket inspiration with a bold, modern design. Built with a 2-layer GORE-TEX® Shell, insulated lining, and a patch inspired by GORE-TEX® Gear from the 1990 International Peace Climb, it stands out as a defining piece of the collection.

    Continued firefighting garment & footwear innovation

    We use our material science know-how to tackle real, and often complex challenges faced by firefighters. That commitment leads to the advancements in our products for firefighting garments, bringing three new moisture barriers to the U.S. market: GORE-TEX® CROSSTECH® Endure, GORE-TEX® CROSSTECH® Prime and GORE-TEX® CROSSTECH® Innovate. The products’ improved performance helps shape a new wave of protective moisture barriers.

    Beyond protective garments, we also advance the footwear market with EXTRAGUARD Upper Technology and the HAIX Fire Eagle 2.0 EXG. Thanks to its low water absorption design, the boot stays lightweight, dries quickly, and maintains insulation even in harsh wet conditions—helping reduce slips, trips, and falls caused by heavy boots.
