After 2021’s North America Roadshow GORE-TEX Studio has visited 13 like-minded individuals in different cities across Japan to talk about their personal backgrounds, local climates, favorite spots, and GORE-TEX. As a visual component, each host picked her/his favorite GORE-TEX outfit to be portrayed in. The result is a showcase of diverse styles and subcultures, captured for the GORE-TEX STUDIO JAPAN ROADSHOW.
GORE-TEX Studio: How would you describe yourself in one sentence? A pure cynic.
GORE-TEX Studio: Tell us a bit about your city’s climate. What are your three favorite outdoor spots in the summer and the winter? What is your favorite method of transportation and why? How do you prepare for bad weather if you spend time outside? Tokyo is scorching hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. It seems like we never have the perfect season. Kinuta Park is one of my favorite spots, it reminds me of Central Park in New York City in the winter. I also like spending time at local coffee shops. That will gets me out of bed early. It makes me feel alive. Lastly, sunbathing on the balcony. I always bring light, functional outerwear, and some compact equipment like a folding umbrella or poncho. Remember to check the weather forecast first!
GORE-TEX Studio: What are you wearing today? Why are you wearing it, and did you have a particular weather scenario in mind when choosing this piece? What do you love most about your GORE-TEX product? I’m wearing a warm mohair sweater, Nike ACG trousers for easy movement, and Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GORE-TEX sneakers. This outfit is perfect for playing in the park with my dog, but it also works for the city. Wearing GORE-TEX products makes me feel invincible. I love the functional aspects like waterproofing and windproofing.
GORE-TEX Studio: Where and when did you get this? Do you have any special memories connected to this item? If you could go anywhere, where would you like to take this piece? I bought these shoes just recently, so I haven’t had the chance to truly test them, but getting a new GORE-TEX piece really inspires me to get outdoors. I would like to test them in the mountains or something. GORE-TEX Studio: Why do you think functional clothing has become more popular in recent years? Functionality and good design are unbeatable! I have the impression that outdoor clothing has changed a lot recently. Today, core outdoor gear is complimented by functional clothing with interesting design features. I think it's partly down to some great designers who are making this change.
GORE-TEX Studio: How do you define comfort when it comes to technical apparel? If you’re wearing GORE-TEX, you can spend time in the rain, but you won’t even notice it’s raining.
GORE-TEX Studio: What are you looking forward to in the next six months, and are there any upcoming challenges that you're excited about? I've recently become interested in the Korean art market, and I would like to travel to Korea.
